CPE TRIALS

Columbia Agility Team typically puts on two CPE trials per year. They are in April at the Clark County Fairgrounds, Ridgefield, WA and in August at the Wilsonville Memorial Park, Wilsonville, OR.

The following manuals and pdf versions of the forms can de downloaded from this site or can be found at www.k9cpe.com under the FORMS section, scroll down to the CLUB FORMS area:

Host Club Trial Guidelines – this contains a handy Checklist and also the required forms to submit to CPE after your trial, as were as a special Table Scoring summary chart and other info on scoring/timing issues.

Application to hold a CPE Trial – This form must be submitted to CPE at least sixteen (16) weeks in advance of the proposed trial date.

Scribe sheets (2 per page) & Scribe Sheets (4 per page) – these files contain blank forms for scribe sheet templates for all classes.  It is the Trial Secretaries choice as to which size form to use.  You only need to download one of these files.

Host Club Equipment List – an equipment list is required for each ring.  This will aid the judges in selecting courses based on the equipment we have available.  This form must be sent to each judge, course reviewer and Sr course reviewer for each trial.

Table Notes– This is a handy scoring summary for all classes, which can be used while working the scoring table at trial.

Word versions of these forms along with a word template for the trial premium, can be found under a private link for host clubs that is not accessible from the public pages of CPE’s website.  CAT CPE Trial Secretaries can contact Judy Bluett at JBluett1@comcast.net or Tanya Sacks at tssacks@msn.com  privately for the link.

There is also an Excel application for calculating the trial budget.

Additionally, the current rulebook can be downloaded here or can be found at www.k9cpe.com under the RULES section.  You will be referred to the rulebook for additional information on a variety of points.

Examples of forms on this CAT website are for general reference only and Trial Chairs and Secretaries should always go to the official website for the most up to date version of forms.

SECURING JUDGES:

A current Judges’ List is available at www.k9cpe.com under the JUDGES LIST section.

Judges should be secured well before a trial.  Keep in mind the weather for the time of year for your trial and where a judge would need to fly out of when selecting a judge.  We try to secure judges whose travel will be more economical and have the least chance for logistics problems.  The Club pays for the airfare.  If a judge prefers to drive, the Club will reimburse the judge based on mileage up to the amount the airfare would have cost.  This should be noted in the contract with the judge.

The Club Treasury can be of assistance in making flight and hotel reservations for judges.  He/she can make such reservations on the Clubs VISA card.

PREMIUM LIST:

The premium must be submitted to CPE prior to distribution.  It must be mailed at least twelve (12) weeks in advance of the trial date.  (See Premium List in the Rulebook and Premium Template for more information.)

Prior to submission to CPE, a draft should be reviewed by the CAT Board and the Awards Liaison.  Only awards described in the premium may be awarded at the trial.

In addition to the information outlined in the “Trial Chairperson and Trial Secretary Guidelines”, the premium should contain the following statement:  Dogs left unattended must be secured in a crate or x-pen.  No tethering of unattended dogs will be allowed.

INFORMATION SOURCES WITHIN THE CLUB:

Go to the “Club Contactsdocument for contact information of key club members whose assistance you will need in preparing for the trial.  Equipment Manager, Site Liaisons, Purchasing Manager, Awards Liaison, Treasurer, keepers of computers and secretary boxes and members who can provide access to the Clubs storage facility are listed here.
