The Spokane Dog Training Club put on its annual fall USDAA trial the first weekend in October.  It was held at a new location -- a school yard in Otis Orchards -- that offered lots of room and easy access to Norm's Burger Barn.  The weather ranged from foul on Sat morning to bright, brisk fall on Sunday afternoon.   The Judge was Bill Sterling.  CAT was represented by Debbi Berkely and Nahtaki, Carol and Jim Hibbard with Baron and Duke, Chris Pazzulo and Ebony, Marilyn and YrObdntSrvnt Dick Watson with Angus and Duncan.  There were many good runs, Qs and placements.  Duncan came home with his Agility Dog title after almost a year of trying.  Chris and Ebony racked up two Qs in standard titling in their first USDAA trial.

The next weekend it was on to Enumclaw For the Rainier Agility Teams USDAA Trial.  The weather pattern repeated itself -- crumby on Saturday -- horizontal rain -- and brilliant fall on Sunday.  RAT did its usual great job and Judge Tim Laubach set interesting, challenging courses.  The CAT contingent noted above was augmented by Hilary Hankins and Peanut, Craig French and Teegan, Dwight and Paula Cash with Tibbie and Bess, Mary Crittendon with Chelsea and Karo,  Martha Mullis with Lucky and Brite, Don Vennema and Jesse and Sue Lange with Jazz.  Again, many Qs and placements and some important titles as well.  They were:

Chris and Ebony earned their Agility Dog Title in only their second USDAA Trial.  Look out you advanced dogs!

Jim Hibbard and Duke with the Judge

Jim Hibbard and Duke finished their Advanced Agility Dog title -- on to Masters!

Hilary Hankins and Peanut (Royal Standard Chihuahua) finished their MAD!  (Master Agility Dog).

To be a MAD a dog must achieve three clear rounds under two different judges in the Masters standard agility class. In addition, a dog must receive a qualifying score at the masters level in gamblers, pairs relay, jumpers and snooker.  Quite an accomplishment.

Donn Venema with Jesse with Terry DeMierre

We share Donn Venema and his Border Terrier Jessie with the Rainier Agility Team (actually they had them first but we'll claim them too).  Jessie finished his Agility Dog Champion (ADCH) title.  Rumor has it that Jessie received a double cheese burger all to herself as a reward.  None of Terry's  "pond scum" for that girl!

A dog that has earned the Master Agility Dog, Snooker Master, Gamblers Master, Jumpers Master and Relay Master titles is awarded the Agility Dog Champion title, designating a dog's agility and versatility at the top level of competition. The titles in the games require 5 qualifying runs in each game including Super Qs in snooker.!

Finally, though not CAT members, it's worth noting that some of our friends racked up titles too.  Rainier Agility Team's Sandra Katzen and her Aussie Kodi also completed her ADCH.  Our favorite Scot/Canadian, Ian Pate, and his Border Collie,  Becky, earned their MAD.   Gordon Frazier and his Border Collie, Shadow, also of RAT, finished their Advanced title.  Congratualtions all!
