1999 Rainier Agility Team July 4th NADAC Trial and Firecracker Cup
One of the most popular trials in the Northwest is the Rainier Agility Team's annual Fourth of July Agility Fest at the Pierce County Fairgrounds in Graham, WA. This is a three day event that draws teams from all around the Northwest and California. Judges were Nadia Barrett, Bruce Vincent and Kent Mahan. The trial shares the show site with an Australian Shepherd Club Conformation and Obedience show and a herding trial as well. This year was one of the best yet. Over 250 dogs were entered. Included were the "Fido Follies," this year with a Hawaiian theme. Entrants make up 6 member teams (3 dogs and their people). They then go out and embarrass themselves doing agility a little bit different than it usually is done. Some even wear costumes! This year included a beach ball baton, a Frisbee throw under the A-frame, a rubber ducky toss and retrieve, all combined with an agility course complete with judge, scribe and timer. RAT's Gordon Frazier decked out in a Hawaiian hairpiece was judge and master of ceremonies.
The following are some pictures of CAT competitors (who did very well, by the way. Bear with me, I'm still getting the hang of my new digital camera and the software for preparing the pictures for the web.
