Columbia Agility Team 1998 Columbia Cup

The 1998 Columbia Cup was a great success.  230 dogs and their handlers had a great time in great weather at the Clark County Fairgrounds.  Judges Ella Hostelton and Janet Ooms set great courses and many teams had great runs.  An article in the Oregonian brought in many visitors who snapped up copies of our Spectators Guide to Dog Agility and the new CAT brochure.  They stayed, they watched, they enjoyed.  We may have made more than a few new converts to the sport of dog agility.

What makes the Columbia Cup special is, surprise, the Columbia Cup -- A permanent trophy recording the dog and handler who run clean in their standard agility runs and rack up the greatest difference between their times and the standard course times.  In addition, awards are made for those who do best in each level of competition.

And the winner of the Columbia Cup is...

Pritamo Kentala, a member of the Rainer Agility Team,  is well-known to agility competitors in the Northwest and beyond.  Shimmy is her new "gift from the agility gods"  -- fast and talented.  Pritamo and Shimmy are headed back to the Boston and the NADAC Nationals where we expect the they will make life tough for the competition.  Great work at the Columbia Cup and good luck at Nationals!

And our New "NATCH" is...

Congratulations to Craig and Teegan, the "Dobie Flash."   Earning a NATCH (National Champion) requires earning 200 points in standard agility and 100 points each in jumpers and gamblers beyond the Elite titles.  (10 points per qualifying run).  Earning a NATCH is indicative of consistently high level of performance.  Those of us who have watched Craig and Teegan for the past few years aren't surprised they've made it.
