The date was new -- a week shy of Halloween -- but that didn't deter any of the ghosts and goblins.  The site, the Clark County Fairgrounds, was new -- at least for the Black Cat.  But I didn't hear anyone waxing nostalgic for the old, dusty and cramped Clackamas Fairgrounds Arena.  The judges were mostly new -- Dave Seeger and Kelli Verilli had not judged for CAT before, although Jim Hibbard was a well-known fixture.   All of them set fun and very challenging courses.  And the format was new.   There were all the usual events of a USDAA trial -- standard, gamblers, jumpers, snooker and pairs.  But there were also a lot of non-standard games -- power and speed, timed gamble, dare to double and silent running -- to keep the ambitious teams busy and challenged.

There were at least two things that were not new.  One was the great job that the trial committee did, headed by Barb White and ably assisted by a hard-working crew too numerous to mention.  The other was the enthusiasm and creativity put into the Halloween costumes and the Halloween fun run.  Here's a sampling:
